Serving God

SERVING GOD WITH AN EXPECTATION

Theme Scripture: Matt 6: 31-34

By: Pastor Mosley Ogbanga

Man prays to God

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own.

It is the general notion that it’s imperative for children of God to serve in any capacity but shouldn’t expect anything in return but it is important to understand that as Christians, we cannot grow if we don’t aspire to serve God with an expectation. When we offer our service to God, we offer our expectation of something that’s non-existent presently with faith that it will come to pass. God wants us to prosper in all things and that can only happen when we understand the will of God and plug ourselves into a place where we can have the capacity to serve so that our expectation from our service can come to pass (Matt 6:31). This means that we should make God the center of everything we do, take on the character of God in our pattern of living, emulate the things of God.

                                                                   HOW TO SERVE GOD WITH AN EXPECTATION {1 Corinthians 11:1}

  1. Develop the character of God: In order for a Christian to be spiritually powerful, it is important that he/she develops the character of God and the word which is capable to only sustain the Christian as a spiritual powerhouse of God. When you begin to serve God, he would connect you to things that give you breakthrough
  2. Give God first place in your life: This is the only way you can serve God with an intention and Expectation {Psalm 37:4} Delight yourself in the Lord and he would give you the desires of your heart. God will begin to form your vision with you when you form a relationship with him. Our good desires are as a result of the birth of the vision of God for our lives. If you are in line with God, he will take you from glory to glory {Matt 6: 9-21},  {Proverbs 23:4}. Where your heart is, is where your treasure will be. It is important to put our hearts with God because that’s where our blessings and contentment comes from. God will build you up through your character and relationship with him and through your service to Him. What we treasure or love will control our behaviors but when we develop a love for God, that love overtakes our mindset and our behavior.

We need to establish our though process and begin to reorient ourselves to establish our desires in the things of God, placing him first and center in our lives.

                                                             4 WAYS WE CAN SERVE GOD WITH EXPECTATION TO ACHIEVE RESULTS

  1. Understand that you are created to serve God: Our purpose in life is to offer our service to God {Ephesians 2:10} and that is the only way God can bless us intentional.

      2. Plug yourself for service: God has given us the grace to serve him {1 Peter 4: 11}. We all have the gift and the grace to serve God

      3. Serving God helps us to become more of Christ: When we begin to imitate the character of God, anytime we call on him he will manifest             himself {Matthew 25: 40} and causes the signs that God says would follow us come to pass.

      4. Serving God and man brings us together with other Christians {Hebrews 10:24-25} can help us fulfill our vision and plans.
